I am Andrew Cutforth, a user of Directory Synchronizer. I am also its creator. I looked at many other programs available, as I am sure you will and found none that could meet my daily needs of synchronizing program source code between many machines in a busy development department. This is why I created the product. The key feature for me being the ability to see exactly what will be synchronized and have full control over the process.

Following are just some reports from satisfied users.

I searched many shareware sites on GOOGLE and tried at least 8 different file sync programs. AJC had the most intuitive, easy to use interface that actually had needed options. The options are presented in the proper logical order. Therefore, I rarely make a mistake. I use it to sync folders across several computers on an Intranet. It saves me much time. I also the like the feature that displays the transferred files as they are transferred. Therefore, I can see live what progress is being made; and be aware if there is a computer hang-up. [There has never been a hang-up with your software. Many of the other sync software programs hang easily.]

Directory Synchronizer has been a lifesaver for me. I work on a desktop and a laptop. With DS, it's a cinch to keep my projects on the two computers in synch. And if that wasn't enough, it's been a surprisingly effective backup solution as well. Coupling DS with the ease of use of USB drives, I've been able to maintain up-to-date mirrors (using the DS command-line options) of all my important work. Like I said, it's been a lifesaver.

I have used AJC for several years. The features I like the most are the simplicity and ease of use of the product. Once I established the various scenarios I wanted to use, its a point and click process.
I use the product for backing up application files on my business laptop. I backup them up to an external DVD/RW. I perform this operation at the end of each week. This will add any new or modified files to the backup DVD. About a year ago this saved me when my hard drive crashed on my laptop.
I also use to product to backup my home files to a dedicated internal hard drive on my desktop PC. I am an armature photographer and have thousands of pictures on file that I don't want to lose.
I did try other products that I downloaded on a try and buy, but did not find any that are as easy to use as AJC.

How AJC Sync keeps me sane !
I have to work with two systems, a portable and a desktop unit. The portable is work-provided and lacks any proper facility to enable me to easily synchronise my work with my home system. After a long time struggling with copy/paste commands to try to keep my work synchronised between the two locations, I found AJC Sync. Using a portable USB hard disk unit, I am now able to hold a copy of my work files on this and keep the two machines locked together. Because AJC Sync does not force you to install any files in the system directories, I can run it from my portable hard disk unit and so shift data around very easily. If you prefer to use ZIP drives to store the data, you can also run it off a CD - this overcomes almost all restrictions which power-crazed IT departments impose on innocent users. It is very user-friendly and never falls over. After installing a new hard disk the other day, I used it to transfer over 8,000 files without incident.
I am running it between Windows 2000 and Windows 98 systems without incident.
I am able to use the settings functions to keep control of what is copied to stop unnecessary file movement.
I have been working with PC's since 1985 and looked around for a long time before finding this excellent piece of shareware. Best few pounds I ever spent ! Highly recommended.

AJC Directory Synchronizer is the best tool available for keeping files up to date in two places. I am continually using the program for both personal and business. It helps me keep large numbers of files such as my digital photo collection together and also works well over internet lines where windows file transfers often fail.

One of the best work-and-error-reducing features of AJC Syn. is in enabling me to do incremental backups of my data. Whenever I do weekly backups, the backup project I've created can easily target for me the files I need to backup onto my CD burner. No need for expensive backup software which does not allow you to view the files without their software.
Another feature of AJC Syn. which I love and which is the main reason why I chose AJC Sync over others is the inclusion of other attributes of the files beside date/time stamp in comparing directories. I did a lot of experiments on different comparison software and AJC Syn. easily allowed me to compare the sizes of compressed files and choose the smallest compressed file to back up!! This is esp. true for mp3 and jpg files!!

I am a technical writer and use two computers for my job - a desktop at home and a laptop to visit customers. Because I work on many projects and versions of documents at once, my folder structure is large and is nested many levels deep. I use Directory Synchronizer daily to keep the two in sync - since installing it I have saved many hours of time and effort. When I bought my laptop I was delighted that I could do work on the road. However I discovered quite soon that synchronizing files between my workstation and my laptop was not as trivial as it seemed. After playing with the offline files feature of Windows 2000 I discovered I needed something more powerful. I needed more control on when, what should be synchronised in what direction. After some searching on the internet I tried AJC Directory synchroniser. It suited my needs perfectly so I bought the program. Since that time I am using AJC Directory Synchronizer multiple times a week and I am fully satisfied with both its features as its performance.

I find AJC Directory Synchronizer very useful, and I have tried many Sync programs. First of all it was good that you have a full working trial version!!! Keep it that way. I use AJC for synchronization of my Laptop and my desktop, I use it to make backups.
Because I take my laptop with me to almost every class, I have a lot to synchronize every day, It is great that AJC works 2 way's, from laptop and to laptop. Very useful are the color indications, red yellow green + the arrows.
It is by far the best synchronization program that I have seen, It actually compares much more than file size. Other sync progs just do file size or date or .. Yours is much better
